Sika® Plastocrete®-160

Curing accelerator plasticizer for ready-mix concrete

Sika® Plastocrete-160® is a synthesis plasticizer
which allows better hydration of the
cement by its deflocculation effect. It provokes
an increase in mechanical resistance from the
young ages and decreases capillary absorption.

The acceleration of hardening it provides allows

Usage

Accelerated Set Times and Strength Development: Sika® Plastocrete®- 160 is use to accelerate set time and increase early strength gain where job-site efficiency is important in order to meet construction deadlines. Sika® Plastocrete®- 160 saves time and money by allowing faster finishing and stripping of concrete surfaces.
  • Optimization of cement dosing:
Due to its deflocculation effect, Sika® Plastocrete®-
160 allows for more complete hydration of the grains
of cement, which leads to a gain of
resistance. Can be used in synergy with others
product from the Sika® range. Contact Sika technical department for advise on compactiblity.
 
  • Reduction of handling times:
The curing accelerator effect of Sika® Plastocrete
® -160 allows for faster coils

is particularly interesting in the following cases:

Recommended dosage


Dosage Recommended range of use: 0.2 to 0.35% of the weight of the binder or
cement (i.e. about 0.20 to 0.34 litres per 100 kg of cement).
Distribution Depending on where the concrete is manufactured, we recommend the following uses:
 

  • Ready-mixed concrete: Sika® Plastocrete-160® is added to the mixing water or in the mixer when making the concrete.

  • Construction sites and prefabrication: Sika® Plastocrete-160® will be added at a later date than the mixing water.
Application steps

MIXING

Add the correct amount of Sika® Plastocrete®- 160 at the concrete plant. The admixture may be added manually or by automated dispenser directly in the mixer or into the water line at the batch plant. When used in combination with other admixtures care must be taken to dispense each admixture separately into the mix. Do not mix with dry cement. Field evaluations should be carried out to determine the minimum ambient and concrete temperature required, and the optimum dosage for the desired setting time and strength performance. Sika strongly recommends that appropriate, sound curing practices be followed to protect fresh concrete from excessive heat loss in extreme weather conditions. Combination with Other Admixtures Sika® Plastocrete®- 160 is highly effective as a single admixture or in combination with other admixtures in the Sika System.
