Sikalastic®-200 W
Waterproof coating for intermediate floors, interior walls, and indoor pool decks
Sikalastic®-200 W is a single component, aqueous phase Liquid Sealing System (L.S.S) which forms an adhesive waterproof membrane after hardening, which is flexible and crack-proof.
- Ready to use product in aqueous phase.
- High elasticity, which enables to bridge the cracks
- Waterproof
- Can be quickly covered with a hard protection: glued or sealed tiles, coated screed (plastic floors, resin coating, etc.)
- Good adhesion on concrete, mortar, plaster, water resistant or non-water resistant gypsum blocks, water resistant plasterboard, terracotta tiles, cellular concrete, wooden and wood-based panels (CTBH, CTBX).
Usage
Used for waterproofing under additional hard protection (glued or sealed ceramic tiles, or screed), of intermediate floors and partition walls in all humid regions of residential, administrative, commercial buildings, hotels, educational buildings, hospitals, sports complexes, industrial and similar buildings, aquatic healthcare and recreational centres, etc. Examples of such premises are:- Kitchens including community kitchens
- Bathrooms, shower rooms

Application
Layer thickness
Minimum of 1,0 mm.
Ambient air temperature
The application temperature must be between +5°C and +35°C.
The temperature of the substrate must be 3°C above dew point.
Relative air humidity
During application and on the following days, the relative humidity must be less than 75% to enable drying and curing of the coating.
Drying time

5°C | 20°C | 35°C |
7 hours | 4 hours | 2 hours |
Consumption
To create a waterproof coating that is resistant to cracks, Sikalastic®-200 W must have a minimum thickness of 1mm after hardening, which corresponds to 2.2 kg/m² to be applied in two coats in all areas (floor and wall) to be waterproofed. The actual quantity to be applied depends on the roughness and porosity of the substrate.
A lower consumption on the walls (approximately 800 g/m² in two coats) enables to effectively protect the substrates that are sensitive to water but do not provide waterproofing according to the Professional Rules.
SUBSTRATE PREPARATION
After preparing the surface suitably, the substrate must be particularly clean, sound, free from all non-adhering particles, and free from products that could harm the adhesion of SikaLastic®-200 W (laitance, grease, oil, curing compound, etc.).
In order to ensure quality and consistency of the coating, it must have a fine and uniform appearance.
A slope of 1% must necessarily be created on the substrates before applying SikaLastic®-200 W.
Concrete and mortar substrate
The substrate must be cured for at least 28 days and have a surface cohesion of minimum 1MPa.
SikaLastic®-200 W is compatible with a damp substrate but not one that is seeping. Make sure it is free from any water films or puddles on the surface.
Depending on the case, sand the asperities, repair holes and potholes or carry out a surface finishing.
For substrates with high porosity, it may be necessary to apply a filler priming coat of SikaLastic®-200 W diluted 1/1 by volume with water. Consumption: approximately 500 g/m². Delay before recoating: approximately 10 hours.
For closed substrates (absorption of a drop of water after more than 5 min), apply the SikaLevel-31W Primer or SikaLevel Primaire with a brush or a roller. Consumption: approximately 100 g/m². Waiting time before recoating: approximately 45 minutes (primer dry to the touch).
Gypsum tiles and panels, terracotta tiles, cellular concrete
After reconditioning the seals, it is necessary to dust and apply a coat of primer made up of SikaLastic®-200 W diluted 1/1 by volume with water. Consumptions:
Substrate | Consumption |
Gypsum tiles and panels | Approximately 300 g/m² |
Terracotta tiles | Approximately 500 g/m² |
Cellular concrete | Approximately 750 g/m² |
Wooden or wood-based panels
Degrease and dust.
MIXING
Homogenise Sikalastic®-200 W using a propeller mixer with low rotational speed (less than 300rpm).
APPLICATION
Sikalastic®-200 W must be applied in 2 coats, using a medium-bristle roller, or a rectangular or Flemish smoothing trowel.
Apply the first coat and at special points, work the Sikarmature filling into the fresh primer coat.
The second coat must be applied on the first hardened coat (after waiting for 12 to 48 hours depending on the temperature and humidity).
Carefully close the bucket after use.
The attention of users is drawn to the utmost importance given to the treatment of special waterproofing points (raised edges, angles, gutters, siphons, pipe passages, cracks, seals, doorsteps, etc.). The singular points must be treated before the standard portion.
Sikalastic®-200 W must be covered with a hard protection.
This may consist of:
Either ceramic tiles, stone slabs or similar elements, glued or sealed;
Or an uncoupled screed that can be coated.
In the case of gluing of tiles or similar elements, use adhesive mortar Sikaceram-205, SikaCeramXtra, SikaCeramFlex, SikaCeram Exterior or the SikaCeram Kitchen and Bath adhesive.
Note 2: it may be necessary to temporarily protect Sikalastic®-200 W to avoid damaging the waterproofing before applying the permanent hard protection.
Waiting time before hard protection
Glued hard protection: 12 hours after hardening of the second coat of SikaLastic®-200 W (at 20 °C).
Screed or fixed tiling: minimum 24 hours at 20°C.
CLEANING OF EQUIPMENT
With water before the product dries.
