Set-retarding admixture for concrete

Plastiretard is a set-retarding admixture that can be used with any concretes, screed and mortars.
 

Through its physico-chemical action, Plastiretard has the following advantages: • It slows the start of setting and preserves the fluidity during the period of time required for
placing concrete • It improves the workability even though the quantity of mixing water is reduced
• It improves the mechanical strengths

Usage

Setting time action: Through its set-retarding effect, Plastiretard can be used to delay setting time of concrete. It is particularly suitable:
  • Concreting with high temperature
  • Long-duration concrete use
  • Long-duration concrete transport
     
Improvement of the workability: Through its plasticiser effect, Plastiretard also allows a greater workability and easy implementation of the concrete.   Improvement of mechanical strengths:
Through its set-retarding effect, Plastiretard increases the long-term mechanical strengths of concrete.

Storage conditions

Protect from direct sunlight and frost.

In case of accidental frost, the product regains its original qualities once slowly thawed and re-homogenized.

Dispensing

Plastiretard is placed in the mixer either after it has been mixed with water or simultaneously with it.
Consumption

Recommended dosage

From 0,05 to 2,0 % of binder or cement by weight depending on the effect required.

  • Current dosage: from 0,1 to 0,5 %
  • A 0,5 % content may be exceeded when setting has to be slowed for a long time. In such

Setting time measured on concrete is not directly proportional at the dosage of Plastiretard, the delay effect is rather exponential depending on the dosage.

Tests must be made with various contents under site conditions (especially the temperature) to determine the content needed to obtain the required result.
